National hugging day is celebrated on January 21 every year in the United States. This day was created and copyrighted in 1986 by Rev. Kevin Zaborney.
Hugging is considered to be a sign of love and affection. It can take away stress and fears. It is mostly used at the time of grief or when celebrating an accomplishment or special occurrence.
It is also a therapeutic technique for mental patients. It does not have to be just for family or friends, but for someone in need of comfort. Remember on January 21, 2016 to give someone a hug.
